Tool: Systemic Theory of Change

What is it, when to use it, why is it beneficial to do so

A Systemic Theory of Change is a full report depicting and describing plausible routes that lead to systems transformation and impact, capturing the dynamic interactions among system actors that a programme, organisation, or partnership aims to affect; as well as the synergistic effects between the interventions identified that, together, can create catalytic systemic change.

It helps address and embrace complexity and targets root causes of social and environmental challenges, whilst fostering adaptive learning and flexibility. It proves most beneficial for strategy development and learning within collaborative settings and complex environments.
