When it comes to climate change, winning slowly is the same as losing.

 

Before we begin, let me be clear. Despite all the hype, systems change will not solve our climate crisis. It is critical and it absolutely needs to start now. But, in my humble opinion, systems change alone is not the answer and it is a danger to think it is. Let me explain my logic and see what you think.

What if I was to say that Covid-19 is set to impact the economy to the tune of 5% of global gross domestic product — About $4.1 trillion USD. Whereas, in line with our current decarbonisation trajectories, climate change could cost us anywhere between $70 — $163 trillion.
